GIMLabs for QGIS

Our plugin for QGIS. Load your projects onto the map as styled layers - locations, site boundaries and location groups - drawn the way GIMLabs draws them.

Load a project

Your projects, three clicks away

Search your projects by reference or name, tick the layers you want, and add them to the map. Everything arrives inside a layer-tree group named for the project, so loading a second one does not leave you guessing which layer belongs where. Available on Pro.

Every feature you need

The complete set of capabilities built to make your team faster, smarter and more confident in the field.

01

Locations layer

Every investigation location in the project as points, keyed on the LOCA_ID your team already uses.

02

Site boundaries

Boundaries drawn in Manage come through as polygons, keeping their stroke and fill.

03

Location groups

Each group outlined by a convex hull around its members, the same shape Manage draws.

04

Your styling, carried over

Colour, size and symbol come through as configured, so a borehole looks the way it does on the GIMLabs map.

05

Real marker artwork

Custom marker SVGs uploaded to your account render as real SVG markers, not stand-in shapes.

06

Editable symbology

Styling is applied through QGIS data-defined properties, so it stays editable in layer properties.

07

Coordinate precedence

Surveyed latitude/longitude, then surveyed easting/northing, then a map placement. A survey beats a pin.

08

Grid you choose

Pick the grid your eastings and northings are in, defaulting to EPSG:27700, British National Grid.

09

Server-side search

The picker lists your most recent projects and searches the rest on the server by reference or name.

10

Refresh, not duplicate

Loading a project already on the map replaces its layer group rather than stacking a second copy.

11

Works offline

Responses and marker artwork are cached, so a project loaded once loads again with no signal.

12

Read-only

Nothing you do in QGIS travels back. The plugin reads, because the API only reads.

13

Keys stay encrypted

Your API key lives in the QGIS authentication database, never in a plaintext settings file.

14

Self-updating

The plugin registers its own update repository, so new releases arrive like any other plugin update.

15

QGIS 3.40 and 4.x

One codebase for both. Developed and tested on 3.44 LTR.
