Changelog

New features, improvements and product updates.

Map features and annotations

Mark up your map the way you would mark up a drawing. Draw features, organise them into layers, and carry them through to your site plans and PDF exports.

  • Draw points, lines, polygons, text, arrows and callouts on the map
  • Organise features into named layers you can show or hide
  • Edit features in place, then include whole layers on your site plans
  • Text, arrows and callouts export as crisp vectors in the PDF

Available on Pro in Manage.

Images block for log and sheet templates

A new Images block pulls tagged photos for each location straight into your log and sheet templates - so the photos you captured on site flow through to the PDF.

  • Pull tagged photos for each location into a grid
  • Control columns, fit, gaps, borders and captions
  • Captions are styled with the same controls as text blocks
  • Long photo sets flow onto extra pages automatically

Available in Template on Pro.

Chain of custody and testing schedules

Plan your lab testing inside GIMLabs and hand it over without a spreadsheet. Build a schedule as a sample-by-test matrix, and raise a chain of custody against the same samples.

What you can do

  • Build a testing schedule as a sample-by-test matrix, with a count and notes per cell
  • Raise chain of custody records to track samples from site to laboratory
  • Export to AGS (CHOC, LBSG and LBST), CSV or PDF for the lab
  • Batch export schedules and chain of custody across multiple locations

Available on Pro in Manage, with laboratories and their tests configured in Product OS.

Laboratories and test catalogue

A new Laboratories area in Product OS lets you keep a catalogue of the labs you use and the tests they offer - ready to drop into testing schedules and chain of custody.

  • Manage laboratories and their test catalogues in one place
  • Group tests by category, each with its standard reference
  • Catalogues seed into new tenants automatically and are reused across every project

Project media: photos and documents

Photos and documents now live alongside the data they describe. Attach media to a project, a location, or an individual record - then find it again with categories and tags.

  • Attach photos and documents to projects, locations and individual data records
  • Organise media with single-select categories and multi-select tags, governed at organisation level
  • Browse a per-project gallery with category, tag and search filters
  • See media counts on every table row, so you know at a glance which records have photos
  • Uploads are stored privately and served through short-lived signed links

Media lives in Manage, with the categories and tags managed at organisation level in Product OS.

Image and PDF map overlays

Place historical maps, site plans, scanned drawings or any reference image directly on top of your project map. Pick an image or a page from a PDF, drop it on the map, then position, resize, rotate and crop it to fit. Everything persists, so the next person who opens the project sees it exactly where you left it.

Cropped overlays only show the bit you keep. The rest is removed from the map, not just hidden. Lock an overlay when you are happy with placement so it cannot be moved by accident, and unlock it any time to fine-tune.

Calc Templates

You can now manage Calc Excel templates directly inside Product OS, instead of digging through the general Assets library to find them.

Calc available on Go

The Calc Excel add-in is now included on Go tier with standard templates. Pull live project data into your spreadsheets without needing a Pro upgrade.

Create Collection from Template

You can now create collections from predefined templates instead of building them from scratch.

When creating a new collection, toggle “Create from template” to see a dropdown of available templates - Cable Percussive (Driller), Trial Pit (Engineer) and more. Selecting a template pre-populates all tables and fields, matched to your configuration by code and name. Any tables or fields that don’t exist in your configuration are skipped, and you’re told which ones were missing.

AGS 4 validation engine

The AGS 4 validation engine is now available in Manage. Run validation against your project data to catch issues before export.

What it covers

The engine includes seven rule categories, each with multiple checks:

  • Depth rules - overlapping samples, gaps in continuous logs, samples exceeding final depth
  • Spatial rules - coordinates outside site boundaries, missing or invalid grid references
  • Date rules - end dates before start dates, dates in the future
  • Completeness rules - required fields missing across AGS groups
  • Relationship rules - orphaned child records, samples without parent locations
  • Data quality rules - duplicate records, invalid values
  • Geological rules - BS5930 checks against stratum descriptions and legend codes

How it works

Open a project in Manage and run the validator. Issues are grouped by rule with severity levels (error, warning, info) and row-level messages that tell you exactly what to fix. Each issue links back to the affected record.

Availability

Validation is available on Pro. The engine is built as a standalone package with full test coverage, so rules can be extended as standards evolve.

Map label offsets

Map labels in Manage can now be repositioned per-location, with a new auto-arrange tool for dense sites.

Drag to reposition

Every location label on the map is now draggable. Move a label away from its marker and it stays connected with a leader line. Offsets are stored per location on each project using angle and distance values, so the layout persists across sessions and exports.

Auto-arrange

For sites with many locations close together, the auto-arrange button spreads labels out to reduce overlaps. The algorithm works at the current zoom level - re-run after zooming if needed. You can fine-tune individual labels manually after auto-arranging.

Availability

Label offsets and auto-arrange are available on Pro as part of the map view in Manage.

Insight: read-only data explorer

Insight is a new read-only product for browsing project data across your organisation. Built for stakeholders, reviewers and anyone who needs to see the data without the risk of editing it.

How it works

Insight gives users a clean data grid for every AGS group across your projects. Filter by project, switch tables instantly, resize columns and export to CSV or JSON. There are no edit controls anywhere - it’s read-only by design.

Geology overlay

When reviewing samples or test results, toggle the geology overlay to see the corresponding stratum description for every record. Switch the source layer between GEOL, DETL or any code present in your data.

Permissions

Each user only sees the projects and tables they’re entitled to. Permissions are managed in Product OS so you set scope once and let the team explore.

Availability

Insight is included on both Go and Pro plans.

Connect: client portal for sharing data

Today we’re launching Connect, a brand new product in the GIMLabs platform. Connect is a branded client portal that lets you share project data with external contacts without giving them access to your internal tools.

It’s the answer to a question we hear all the time: how do I share live project data with my client without sending them an AGS file every Friday or giving them a license to our system?

How it works

From any project in Manage, you can invite a client contact by email. They get a sign-in link, set a password, and they’re in. They see a clean, branded portal with the projects you’ve shared with them - and only those projects.

Inside the portal, contacts can browse locations, view sample data, see geological logs, download exports, and check progress against the project schedule. Everything updates in real time as your team works in Log and Manage.

Granular permissions

You control exactly what each contact can see. Lock a contact to a single location group, hide specific tables, restrict export formats, or prevent downloads entirely. Permissions are managed at the project level so you can give different clients different views of the same data.

Branded for your business

Connect uses your logo and your brand colours. To your clients, it looks like part of your service - not a third-party tool. We handle the infrastructure, you get the credit.

Pricing

Connect is included on all plans. Go customers get CSV export. Pro unlocks all export formats including AGS and PDF logs.
